The Bar Council of India (BCI) passed a unanimous resolution backing an immediate amendment to the constitution to increase the retirement age of the high courts and the Supreme Court’s judges.

The resolution was passed after consultation with the State Bar Councils and office bearers of the High Court Bar Associations.

“The copy of the resolution will be communicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju, for immediate action on the resolution,” stated the BCI.
